Looking to get the Flu Vaccine in Clitheroe?

Getting the flu vaccine is a good idea! Maybe you are worried about catching the flu or you are concerned about having time off work. Or maybe you just want to make sure you do not pass it on to the more vulnerable members of your family. Whatever the reason, having the flu vaccine against this year’s strain of seasonal flu can give you protection and peace of mind.

We at Peter Buckley Pharmacy provide both Private Flu Vaccines as well as NHS flu jabs (to people aged 18 years and older who are eligible to receive the vaccine for free).

The following groups of people are eligible to receive an NHS flu jab for the 2024/25 flu season :

• pregnant women
• all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2024
• primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6)
• secondary school aged children (from Year 7 to Year 11)
• adults 65 and over ( including people that 64 years who turn 65 by 31st March 2025 are eligible for an NHS flu vaccination)
• people with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age) – speak with pharmacist to find out if you have a elligable clinical risk. this is usually a long term health conditions that requires medical treatment.
• carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
• close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
• frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants

If you do not qualify for a free NHS flu jab we can still provide you with a Private Flu Vaccine. This vaccine is £25.

Who shouldn’t have the flu jab?

Most people can have a flu vaccine. However, there are a couple of exceptions:

– If you are currently unwell with a fever, you should delay getting the flu jab.
– If you have an egg allergy, speak to your GP or pharmacist before getting the jab.
